2017 DHL 2.0 Draft Order and Lottery Standings (16th to 9th determined at seasons end), (8th-5th determined on seasons rank after 1st round eliminations), (4th- 1st based on playoff finals). For the Draft Lottery we will follow last Seasons DHL rules; which are as follows: Each team from positions 16th-9th in the DHL will have a chance at winning the draft lottery. Only 1 winner in the DHL 2.0 Draft lottery. If we wish to adopt the 3 team rule the NHL uses for the draft lottery it will need to be voted in for next season. Each team positioned 16th-9th will be represented by NHL teams in the NHL Draft lottery. The Draft Lottery will take place on April 29th. Tune in to the live draft lottery to see who this year’s winner is! The NHL teams that correspond to the DHL teams are in parenthesis. For example, if DET wins the 1st pick in the NHL draft, the Toronto pick would move up to select 1st in the DHL 2.0 draft.
Please note team draft picks ranked 8th - 1st (playoff team picks) can not win the draft lottery
16th – Columbus Blue Jackets (COL, FLA) 15th – Ottawa Senators (VAN, LA) 14th – Colorado Avalanche (VGK, CAR) 13th – Winnipeg Jets (ARZ, WPG) 12th - Vancouver Canucks (NJ, PHI) 11th – St.Louis Blues (BUF, TB) 10th – Toronto Maple Leafs (DET, NYI) 9th – Quebec Nordiques (DAL) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8th – Boston Bruins 7th- NY Rangers 6th- Minnesota Wild 5th – Montreal Canadiens 4th – Dallas Stars 3rd- NY Islanders 2nd- LA Kings 1st – Calgary Flames

Sorry what is the "3 team rule the NHL uses" Is is that you can only jump three spots? Asking for a friend... If so, it gives people insulation if they tank, which is naughty naughty.

The NHL lottery for the top 3 picks, we only use the lottery for the #1 pick.

Yep like Garrett said, in the NHL now 3 of the 15 teams that didnt make the nhl are drawn for the #1-2 and 3 spot. So for example the team with the #1 pick going into the draft could drop as low as #4. This may be a little much for an 8 team draft but worth voting on IMO. It would definately stop tanking, but we got rid of the only owner that seemed to use that as a strategy!

Congrats to Lou, who will be picking 1st overall in this years draft, thanks to NJ winning the draft lottery.
Lou will move up to 1st in round one, dropping teams 1-4 back to 2-5th.
After round one, all picks will be made in their original order.

Wow if we did ours like the NHL Lou would have won the #1 and #2 pick I motion to do ours like the NHL please. This becomes a totally different story at that point haha. We'd basically have to run our own draft lottery with our 8 non playoff teams using custom odds. In theory, if we followed the NHL then that Nordiques 2017 pick (I haven't looked who drafted it) would be 2nd overall (can't split one pick into two Lou 😉)
