*** The Prospect Owned Thread will no longer be updated ***
Due to the amount of time it takes admin to keep up on the prospect owned thread, we will not be using it any longer. instead we expect all GMs to take the additional time required to search using the Proboards search function for Prospect Ownership.
How you do this;
Make sure you are on the desktop version. If on mobile, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on desktop. This is the version where you can also see the message board at the bottom. At the top of the screen you will see "Search" beside "home" in the navigation bar.
When you click on search, it will give you several options. Chose option 1 "Select all threads containing all the following words"
You do not have to include the players full name; for example if you want to see if anyone owns Jack Hughes, you wouldn't type in "Jack Hughes" as there is a greater chance you will not find him do to spelling, spacing, etc. Instead you would type in something like "Hugh" All entries with those 4 letters in order will then populate for your search results.
Sure you will get a few returns of "Quinn Hughes" or maybe even a post where someone mentioned Hugh grant, or Hugh Jackman, but what your looking for is whether Jack Hughes is owned and you should find out pretty quick scrolling through the first couple returns.
Why would you only search for "Hugh" in stead of "Jack Hughes" well, search for Hugh will also return the following threads... when someone spells the name without a space "JackHughes" or if the misspell part of his name "Jack Hughs" or if they type a little too fast and get a few letters jumbled "Jcak Hughes".
I'd recommend trying 2 or 3 different combos of 4 letters before deciding whether to add a player, so you could try "Jack" "Hugh" or even "ghes" all should return any thread with Jack Hughes mentioned in it.
*** Also of importance is that everybody spells the names of the prospects they are adding correctly ***
*** Do not copy and past European names with fancy letters, unless you are also retyping the name in English beside it ***
Hope that helps, it will save us a ton of time, and allow admin to focus on more important things to help keep the DHL active and fun!
Now bring on the season!
